The Relationship
ArGento’s relationship with Royals Sports Group is rooted in AG’s longstanding connection to cricket. Royals Sports Group grew into the global cricket network behind the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, the Paarl Royals in the SA20 and the Barbados franchise in the Caribbean Premier League, the three teams the Mittal family and Adar Poonawalla agreed to acquire in 2026.
Having grown up watching and following the sport, AG’s appreciation for the game naturally led to an ownership interest in 2019, when he and his associate Terrol Cummins acquired the Barbados Tridents, the franchise that later played as the Barbados Royals within the group before returning to the Tridents name in 2026. That connection later extended to the Rajasthan Royals, where AG also took an equity stake.
Both investments were ultimately realised in 2026, but they reflected something more fundamental than an investment thesis: a genuine personal affinity for cricket and a longstanding interest in the role that sport plays in culture, community and entertainment.
