The Relationship
Given AG’s profound appreciation for house music and keenness for authentic experiences, Breakaway lies exactly in the realm of the investments he would typically pursue. Zach Ruben's idea of a repeatable touring model for a house music festival creates a highly scalable vehicle, while keeping the experience fresh each time in new locations and different environments.
Zach and Adam Lynn, now the CEO, started out as student promoters running events on their respective campuses, after noticing that up-and-coming artists were skipping college towns. Their two outfits eventually merged and launched Breakaway in 2016, with Columbus, Ohio, as its home base. The model has clearly worked, drawing more than 300,000 fans in 2025 and reaching twelve cities in its latest run, including first stops in New York, Utah and Houston, with acts like John Summit and Tiësto. Four dates are already locked in for 2027, kicking off in Tampa in April.
